A fresh start

It sure has been a while since I posted some of my own work up on the blog. I was super busy planning our wedding, but now that the last thank you note has been stamped I've been brainstorming what the next steps are for dot + jim. I put it aside for a bit to focus on building The Nimbus Factory, but I think it's time to hop back in.

As my love for all things wedding grew over the past year, I thought why not expand on that? My inspiration was taken directly from elements of our own wedding- vintage hankies and memorable lyrics.

The Nimbus Factory Custom Wedding Invitations

Happy almost spring! I wanted to give everyone a peek at my wedding invitations since I did the same for my save the dates (see 2 posts below). I worked with my talented Nimbus co-worker, friend and illustrator Emily Dove on bringing this whimsy, Savannah-themed idea to life. So happy with the end result!

I've been DIY'ing my socks off lately for the wedding. I hope to post a few of my projects and "how-to"s in the upcoming weeks!

I just finished mailing off my second-to-last batch of save the dates. I am very satisfied with how they turned out. A big thanks to illustrator Julia Kuo for drawing a juicy peach for the frontside. Here is a peek of the finished product!

On a side note, I have been a very bad blogger lately. I'm doing more pinning these days than blogging!

The transition from nine-to-fiver to freelancer has been seamless thus far. I am very thankful for that. I've been able to get my hands on a sundry of projects, one including a brand identity package for my good friends' etsy shop, bleu de toi. Here are a few designs in the early stages of development.

josh+hil's wedding on green wedding shoes!

My dear friends' wedding was recently featured on the super sweet blog Green Wedding Shoes. I love the narrative Hilary told of her special day. Also check out Hil's new etsy site Blue de toi, where she makes custom guestbook fingerprint trees.

Always

I promise my blog isn't just devoted to weddings although it may seem that way. I have attended 2 weddings in 3 weeks that have been blog-worthy, which is why there has been an overload of bells and brides. This past weekend, I traveled to southern California to be in my close friends' Hilary and Josh's wedding. They had so many wonderful handmade elements in their wedding- from a fingerprint tree guestbook to felted boutonnieres and corsages fashioned by the bride herself. They were hitched in an open field nestled in the mountains and the reception was held in a nearby old western town (also known as Paramount Ranch, home to many famous John Wayne movies). It was way cool.

(L) The Fingerprint Tree- guests placed their print on a branch and signed their name. (The groom's ring was also inspired by the fingerprint theme- not pictured).

Her dress was purchased on eBay with many alterations made by the

mother and grandmother of the bride. The groom sported gray Van slip-ons
with his dark gray 3-piece suit.

Hitched on a Hill

This past weekend, I spent a few days in the mountains of Asheville, NC to watch as two very dear friends shared their vows. It was indeed a picture perfect wedding. Everything from the food to the centerpieces to the decor to the bride's dress was handmade with love. Wishing Claire and John much happiness in their new life together!

Wedding season

In honor of the month of October (wedding season for me), I've put together two outfit ideas. Both of these look rather "springy" for October weddings, but I don't really believe in certain colors for specific seasons. I'm kind of rebel when it comes to color coordinating with the leaves and trees.
