I know this video is already pretty viral, but I just had to post. His moves crack me up.

firsts
My holiday consisted of many firsts. These are the most memorable ones.
My first trip to wine country.
My first time sampling "conveyor belt sushi".
My first time showing a boyfriend my hometown.
My first trip to Disneyland! I even got a fancy button.
My first time falling down an escalator (It's ok, you can laugh. It was pretty amazing).
My first time seeing the Golden Gate bridge at nite.
My first time eating the best rotisserie chicken of my LIFE (roli-roti food truck in SF).
My first time seeing my mama in a cap and gown.
My first time being pretty darn certain of my future.

stache + tongue
I was browsing design milk to get some inspiration for DIY projects, where I then was linked to dog milk. I couldn't resist these incredible dog toys from Lama Designs. I mean come on, these are amazing. I'd love to get a super tongue toy for Miss Nattie Gann. Although her tongue is just about that length as it is..
Check out more accessories (for humans and canines) at Lama Designs.

blowdryers and tissue paper are what he loves to eat.
he brings so much happiness to my dad,
i love love love this fine blond lad.
he will grow to be very big and strong,
and will always be special even when he does wrong.

new work: pigs & pearls
I was recently asked to design a logo, business cards, and etsy banner for a new, little biz in Pensacola. This aunt/niece creative team creates bibs, burp clothes, and baby goodies. The name of the company sparked my interest right away- pigs & pearls. They wanted something fun and kid-friendly, so I went ahead and created some playful piggies with draping pearls framing their little piggie bods.
Etsy banners
So the banners began with a husband and wife piggy. But since this is a company aimed toward little ones, we altered the husband piggy to a little boy (and a well-dressed one at that). His mama is the one with the pearls.

They decided on a different font for the tag. Here is what we came up with.

Exploring Colour
Hey, you're color swatch girl! Yep, that's me I suppose (I really do get this sometimes).
So since I am indeed "color swatch girl," I figure I'd dedicate this post to exploring fun facts about colour (just changed up the spelling because the british way just looks so much fancier).
From the Color My Closet blog, I discovered that many people size one another up within 90 seconds, and their first impression is based primarily on the colours we are wearing. Colour alone accounts for between 62 and 90% of that vital first impression.
The following colours are considered "retired" from the famous Crayola crayon box: Blue gray, green blue, lemon yellow, maize, orange red, orange yellow, raw umber, violet blue. Thank my lucky stars that cerulean didn't make the cut. That one was always my first pick when coloring the sky or ocean, rather than regular ole blue.

Ok, so my favorite color is yellow. Here are some tidbits I dug up about this chummy colour:
Why are No. 2 pencils yellow? This blog says that in China, the colour yellow is associated with royalty and respect. American pencil manufacturers began painting their pencils bright yellow to communicate this 'regal' feeling and association with China.
The colour yellow also stimulates mental processes, activates memory (which could be a plus for the whole yellow pencil thing), and encourages communication. For me, yellow just makes me smile.

Only 2 cities in the US have the colour yellow in them: Yellow Pine, Idaho and Yellow Springs, Kentucky. Green is the most popular colour of cities with colour names.
For more colour inspiration, mosey on over to my other blog, huesdays.

The Return
The holidays are over which means new episodes of The Office will soon be in full swing. Here is a little snippet of Americana, courtesy of Mr. Dwight K. Schrute (and Angela?)
