The Nimbus Factory Custom Wedding Invitations

Happy almost spring! I wanted to give everyone a peek at my wedding invitations since I did the same for my save the dates (see 2 posts below). I worked with my talented Nimbus co-worker, friend and illustrator Emily Dove on bringing this whimsy, Savannah-themed idea to life. So happy with the end result!

I've been DIY'ing my socks off lately for the wedding. I hope to post a few of my projects and "how-to"s in the upcoming weeks!

colonial cricket

Eddie and I had quite the serendipitous adventure last Saturday. We were driving through Historic Wormsloe and, little did we know, a colonial cricket match happened to be taking place in a nearby field. They were commemorating Georgia state parks by hosting this game the way it was first played, back in the early 1700's. When I say "the way it was first played" I am referring to saucy gents wearing knickers and fancy hats, and carrying rifles.

Above: Eddie at bat. Below: The saucy gent readying himself for a pitch, while I punch a swing.

What a fun day!

change

Lots of new things have been happening in my life- new house, new neighborhood, new friends, new acquaintances. All good, of course. Great actually. I have neglected writing due to these busy times. BUT I plan to post photos of my new pad very very soon. I have a bunch of before+after projects that I want to finish up before the post. So hold tight!

fresh palettes

I am moving downtown next month (hooray!) and am trying to pin down the palette of my new home. Since my kind landlord is letting me paint (double hooray), I plan on doing wonderous things with color. Here are the two I'm leaning towards. Comments are certainly welcome!

seven signs of a savannah spring

I had a splendid, outdoorsy day in Savannah today. I kept thinking how everyone around here has serious spring fever (including me). So I would like to share my seven signs that today is the first day of spring in Savannah:

{1} The line at Zunzis could be spotted from blocks away.

{2} The lights were beaming from Historic Grayson Stadium.
{3} Pink and white buds began covering up the Spanish moss.
{4} A police car was perched on the bridge, monitoring Tybee traffic.
{5} At least 3 weddings were taking place in downtown squares today.
{6} People were busting out the Claritin and Zyrtec like whoa.
{7} And (the best one)...the local Forrest Gump impersonator was sitting on a bench in Chippewa Square, in full Forrest attire with his suitcase in tow. classic.

the sound of white

Tonite I ventured off to Tybee island. I hadn't been out there in quite some time, so I figured I was due for a beach run. The drive itself was absolutely wonderful. The moonlight and excessive fog made the drive a bit haunting and mysterious. But I liked that.

I love the beach at nite. I closed my eyes as I was walking on the shore and felt like I didn't even need to open them to see where I was going. There was absolutely nothing in front of me. But when I did open my eyes, I looked directly to my right and saw allll ocean. It's funny how sometimes I feel like the sound of the waves is just white noise. But if you
really listen, it is quite melodic.

Tybee has wooden swings placed sporadically on the beach. They are the good swings too. The kind that creak a little when you begin to push your feet off the ground. They are distanced far enough from the shore so that you can still hear the waves, but close enough to the dunes where you can feel the super soft sand cushion your toes.

If I listen to the sound of white, sometimes I hear your smile,
and breathe your light.

Falling

This past weekend, I fell in love with Savannah all over again. I had yet to feel that way since my move back here in July. But as I went for a walk in Ardsley Park- admiring the trees, draping moss, and radiant leaf spectrums- I finally felt it. I'm back in my most favorite city and am so thankful to be here.

p.s. who ever said the south doesn't get changing leaves?
